community up for grabs [09 May 2011|08:38am]

geg
if any cares to take over this community, shoot me an email.
I've been gradually pulling away from LJ for some time now and, not only that, this community is virtually dead... even when the last two books were released, we had very little activity here... aaaand I'm not doing anything to try and revive it.

so, whoever wants it, can have it (if more than one email, i'll make a judgement call on who to contact). if no response, consider me and any moderation to be non existant.

thanks for all the posts and conversations over the past 10 years
peace and love
Greg

edit - community transferred to paedraggaidin
(disregard the contact on the profile, I forgot to remove it :P )

Netland Towers: Wheel of time Roleplaying

Netland Towers is an online role-play community based on the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.

Operating since 1997, we provide a text-based, point-driven system that allows our members to create characters that live and interact in the world he has created.

Earlier this eyar we launched a brand new site and have just completed our annual census. With over 100 playing characters, we're looking to increase our already active membership. If you're interested, we highly recommend stopping by!

Thoughts on "The Gathering Storm" [07 Nov 2009|09:13am]

bigredpaul
I didn't get to buy it until last Monday afternoon, and finished it on Tuesday afternoon. My habit is to do a re-read of the entire series every time when they announce the official publication date of the next book.  Plus, I read each new book twice right away: the first time is quickly to get the sheer joy of reading something new, and then again more slowly, to think more deeply about it and its style and technique.

One thing that really struck me about this book is just how affecting it was.  I laughed out loud more times in this book than in just about any of the rest.  I found myself tearing up a dozen times.  The book is very intense.  On my first read through, I deliberately did not notice which writing was Jordan's and which Sanderson's, and I think that was a good strategy for me, as it meant that I could just read it for pleasure and not analysis.

And what a pleasure it is.

Now, I have to do my first re-read, but I am ecstatic that mistborn  was chosen to be the author to finish this series.

Got It... [07 Nov 2009|11:57am]

child_de_lestat
So I got it. I was so excited. Am so excited. I haven't even cracked it open yet except to read the front flap. I've been meaning to reread the series, just to get myself caught up before I read this one, but I haven't gotten around to it. So I started reading The Eye. I had forgotten how much I loved these books, and I love rereading them, because everytime you do, you find something you didn't notice before, like exactly how early on you begin getting hints that Moiraine is Aes Sedai when she first gets to Two Rivers. He actually starts throwing out hints like within the first few pages of mentioning her, haha. I don't know why I found that interesting, but I did.

It's done. I took two days off of work to do it, but I finished it.

OMG.

Shall we start discussion in the comments section? That way, we spoil nothing unless people click through to read the comments.

NO SPOILERS [27 Oct 2009|07:53am]

Although some b-tard is probably going to be spouting off 2 minutes after going to the library and skimming the last 20 pages, let's try to remember to use lj-cut for spoilers!

Also, this bad boy is 784 pages long. Don't be terribly upset if people aren't ready to discuss the book until the weekend. :)
